Strategies, guidance, and reports
Create, compare, score, and apply strategies
Compare planning policies against the same scenario inputs and understand the relative recommendation.
When this applies
Use this to compare saved, fixed, or generated approaches without changing the base inputs first.
Where to enter it
Simulation > Strategies Compare
How to enter it
- Review fixed, generated, and saved strategy definitions.
- Add or edit supported strategy parameters.
- Run the background comparison against the same scenario and balances.
- Review outcomes, score components, tradeoffs, and recommendation.
- Apply a strategy only after confirming the saved scenario change.
How YARCalc uses it
- Asset allocation and de-risking use start/end ages, starting/target safe-asset percentages, and a maximum annual move.
- Beneficiary planning records legacy or spend-down intent, target, and beneficiary; composite strategies select at most one child for each supported role.
- Fixed Roth conversion uses source/target accounts, owner, ages, and annual amount. Golden-window conversion uses retirement/age start, RMD/Social Security/age end, target bracket, annual cap, IRMAA limit, and optional tax-cash reserve.
- Healthcare reserve uses an annual reserve; planning age changes longevity; conservative return and return stress change return/inflation assumptions and optional initial stressed years.
- Social Security claiming selects person/all and claim age; spending change uses a multiplier; withdrawal order changes funding priority.
- Tax-rate arbitrage considers current and beneficiary rates, IRMAA, Roth preservation, brokerage step-up preference, and survivor tax compression.
- The score is relative to the compared set and uses ending balance, after-tax inheritance, taxes, shortfall avoidance, and policy compliance; it is not an absolute quality grade.
